Family Heirloom

After carpentry work, before cleaning and oiling.

After
My cousin Linda asked me if I would like our Aunts Blanket chest and I was thrilled. It needed some TLC as my Aunt is soon to be 101 years old, so I'm sure this chest is around 80-85 years old. My son did some carpentry work to stabilize it and I have oiled it about 10 times trying to help the aging wood. I think it looks awesome and am so grateful to my cousin for thinking of me! It now sits in my family room, I will show you pictures soon.

WHAT a treasure! You were blessed to have gotten it. I love what oiling does to old furniture..the way it just soaks down into the wood and "heals" it. xo Diana

Hi Michelle and thanks for the invite. Love your new piece of furniture and glad you just oiled it instead of painting it like so many people do now. It is beautiful and you are blessed to have gotten it. I am a follower now.

Nothing more special than getting family heirlooms.
I have been gifted recently with many from my last living aunt.
