Thrift Store Finds Pottery

I love to find things that I can remake into treasures, so I thought I would do a weekly post on some projects I have completed.
I have seen pottery that I like and then notice that it has decorative painting on it. Don't worry it's not permanent! So after a warm soapy soak and a little elbow grease with a scouring pad, viola, much better. I have gotten several pieces like this.

Hi Michelle. I just LOVE your blog and all of your decorating. I just relocated from Colorado to Hinckley, IL and was wondering if you can tell me where some great primitive style shops are and where all the good garage saling is. Thanks and I really enjoy seeing how you make all of your pieces fit into your beautiful home!

  9. Who in their right mind would have painted one of those bowl in the first place?! I see the little crocks quite often and have passed them up because they are painted...never again! Thanks!

    See you soon :)

  14. Oh my I would never have thought the paint would come off but I guess if it's Acrylic paint it would loosen up a bit after a good soak.

I bought a Pewter creamer/sugar a couple years ago at a craft show and it had a snowman scene painted on it...YIKES...on Pewter!! But I loved the shape and patina of the Pewter so I bought it with the idea of doing what you did was afraid to try it. Guess I will....thanks for the tips.

    Your bowl is beautiful now!
